Industrial  SSDs offer better performance, demand less power, and operate in rugged environmental conditions, unlike the HDDs they are replacing. When selecting a SSD, it’s important to note that there are more factors to consider than physical size and capacity. Comparable shock, vibration, and power specs, can differ widely between SSDs. Consumer SATA SSD

Consumer SSDs are designed to be used in consumer goods, such as desktop computers and personal notebooks, and don;t meet the qualifications required to be used for industrial applications. Consumer SSDs are made to balance performance demands and cost, ensuring that the products in which they are used can be priced competitively. They offer low memory costs with MLC Flash and reliable performance in consumer products, but they typically should not be used in applications with high write cycles or wide temperature fluctuations.

 

Commercial and Enterprise SATA SSD

Commercial and enterprise SSDs are a step up in terms of performance capacity from consumer SSDs and are used in places such as servers in data centers. Most of these feature eMLC or MLC NAND Flash. For applications that need to operate in extreme temperatures, eMLC and MLC are not usually sufficient. Using this kind of SSD in temperatures below -45 degrees C or above 90 degrees C could lead to data corruption.

 

Industrial SATA SSD

Industrial SATA SSD is the best choice for industrial applications, such as transportation, embedded computing, and healthcare. Industrial grade storage uses SLC NAND Flash, which offers the ultimate in data protection, even in extreme operating conditions. Industrial SSDs tend to be the most rugged, and they are necessary for applications that are running 100% of the time and require high-speed read and write capabilities.
