Solid state flash storage is a version of data storage used in SSDs. SSD stands for solid state drive, and is a drive format that is a popular alternative to HDDs, or hard disk drives. This also makes HDDs less reliable in environments in which shock and vibration are common and increase the odds of a disk-related malfunction.

Flash storage is much faster than other forms of memory, thanks to the lack of moving parts. It also has higher levels of data security and is able to operate in extreme conditions without loss of performance. Solid state flash storage can also be extremely small, so it’s ideal for devices with a limited amount of space.
