With MLC flash, two bits of data are stored on each cell. This kind of flash can be found in both commercial and industrial applications. MLC flash is more reliable, faster, and has a longer lifespan than TLC flash.

 

SLC flash is considered to be industrial grade flash. One bit of data is stored on each cell with this kind of flash memory. SLC flash offers the longest lifespan of all forms of flash memory, plus the highest level of data security and the fastest operating speeds. It also provides an extended temperature range, which is necessary for many industrial applications.

In the industrial market, embedded flash is widely used across many industries. Flash memory is found in devices that are used in healthcare, gaming, automation, transportation, signage, and much more. In each of these cases, industrial grade embedded flash is used in order to accommodate rugged operating conditions, such as extreme temperatures, shock, and vibration.

 

In some cases, industrial users choose MLC flash for their devices. Typically, this occurs in response to the need for increased storage capacities. Some MLC flash technology is designed to adhere to industrial specifications regarding temperature, which lets industrial users get the capacity they need without sacrificing reliability.
