Spotlight on Our Application Usage Model & Testing Services

Collaboration- Putting together pieces of the puzzle

The Delkin Customer Applications team has a longstanding track record of success, having solved hundreds of complicated host failures. Engineers and OEMs often come to us when they have been testing their application usage model, only to produce complete device failure. Where other storage solutions have failed, Delkin can succeed. We offer testing services that replicate real-world conditions in order to help you identify the appropriate storage solution in time for your product launch.

Replicating Real-World Conditions

When OEMs turn to Delkin for guidance with card failures, one of the most common issues is that previous testing did not appropriately replicate real-world conditions. Consequently, the use of ill-suited data storage solutions can lead to premature card failure. When Delkin’s team of specialists performs testing services based on a customer’s usage model, real-world conditions are duplicated as closely as possible. It is necessary to mimic environmental conditions such as vibration, shock, altitude, and ranges in temperature in order to determine whether a particular card will hold up to the unique demands of the application.

Troubleshooting Failed Usage Models

When confronted with multiple failed tests, it may be necessary to consider whether the usage model itself is flawed. Delkin’s specialists may examine the SMART data on the failed data storage cards to determine the source of the problem. In some cases, it may be revealed that the initial testing used program/erase cycle counts that were beyond the rating of the flash card. This can have the effect of depleting all spare memory bocks, which eliminates the card’s write capacity. Another common problem found in failed usage models occurs when qualification testing is performed on cards that cannot withstand high temperatures. This results in premature failure. Based on Delkin’s assessment of the usage model, our team may recommend changes to your qualification testing that result in the identification of the correct product for your company’s particular application.

Engineers and OEMs who have been experiencing difficulty with their application usage models are invited to connect with Delkin specialists to discuss solutions. Our team would be pleased to provide custom testing services designed specifically for your unique application.
