This firmware updated includes the following fixes and features:

PicturePAD Firmware Version 4.05.01

This firmware update includes the following fixes and features:

Added:

  1. Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) RAW file support.
  2. Nikon D2H (Compressed) RAW file support.
  3. Nikon D70 RAW file support.

With firmware version 4.05.01 installed, the PicturePAD will be compatible with the following RAW file formats:

  • Canon 10D, 300D, D30 and D60 (*.CRW)
  • Canon PowerShot G1 and G2 (*.CRW)
  • Canon PowerShot S30, S40 (*.CRW)
  • Canon PowerShot Pro90 IS (*.CRW)
  • FujiFilm FinePix S2 Pro (*.RAF)
  • Minolta Dimage 7, 7i, 7Hi(*.MRW)
  • Nikon D1, D1X, D1H, D70 and D100 (Compressed & Uncompressed) (*.NEF)
  • Nikon D2H (Compressed) (*.NEF)
  • Nikon CoolPix 5000, 5700 (*.NEF)

IMPORTANT: Back up any files stored in the unit before proceeding.

Windows

  1. If your current firmware version is 1.05.08 or newer, download Delkin_4_05_01A.exe. If your current firmware version is 1.05.07 or older, download Delkin_4_05_01B.exe. You can check the firmware version by running the VERSION option in the SETTINGS menu.
  2. Connect the PicturePAD to the AC Adaptor as a safety precaution to ensure that the firmware upgrading process will not be interrupted due to a weak battery.
    Note: the firmware update cannot be performed without the power adapter.
  3. Connect the PicturePAD to your computer’s USB port and activate the TURN ON USB function. The PicturePAD will appear as a Removable Disk with a variable drive letter in My Computer. Make sure no CF or other media cards are inserted into the PicturePAD during the firmware update process.
  4. Double click the firmware file, which is a self-extracting zip file. When prompted, select the Removable Disk as the destination for the extracted file. The firmware files will be copied to a directory on the PicturePAD hard drive.
  5. The red Hard Disk Access Indicator LED will blink during the file transfer. When the files have been successfully copied, press the Enter button to disconnect the PicturePAD and then restart the unit. Do Not disconnect the PicturePAD until the LED stops blinking.
  6. From the PicturePAD Main Menu, press and hold, in this sequence, the Menu button , the Option button and the Enter button until you see the “Update Software?” display.
  7. Press the Option button to begin the firmware update process.
  8. The updating of the firmware should take approximately seven (7) minutes to complete. During the updating, do not move the unit or turn off the power supply.
  9. An “Updating Flash Please Wait…” message is displayed throughout the update process. This is followed by a Software Update and Printer Driver Update display. “Update Completed” is displayed once the firmware upgraded is successful.
  10. Power down the unit and power it on again. The unit will now run with the new firmware.

    Note: If the display appears to be faint or blank after powering back on, the contrast may need to be adjusted. See the instructions on adjusting the contrast in the SETTINGS MENU section of the User’s Manual.

Apple Macintosh

  1. If your current firmware version is 1.05.08 or newer, download Delkin_4_05_01A_MAC.sit. If your current firmware version is 1.05.07 or older, download Delkin_4_05_01B_MAC.sit. You can check the firmware version by running the VERSION option in the SETTINGS menu.
  2. Connect the PicturePAD to the AC Adaptor as a safety precaution to ensure that the firmware upgrading process will not be interrupted due to a weak battery.

  3. Connect the PicturePAD to your computer’s USB port and activate the TURN ON USB function. The PicturePAD will appear as an Untitled disk icon on the desktop. Make sure no CF or other media cards are inserted into the PicturePAD during the firmware update process.
  4. Double click the downloaded firmware file to extract the firmware installer to your desktop. This step requires Stuffit Expander.
  5. Double click the installer icon to begin the firmware installation. When prompted, select the Untitled disk as the destination for the extracted file. The firmware files will be copied to a directory on the PicturePAD hard drive.
  6. When the files have been successfully copied, drag the Untitled icon on the desktop to the Trash to disconnect the PicturePAD and then restart the unit.
  7. From the PicturePAD Main Menu, press and hold, in this sequence, the Menu button , the Option button and the Enter button until you see the “Update Software?” display.
  8. Press the Option button to begin the firmware update process.
  9. The updating of the firmware should take approximately seven (7) minutes to complete. During the updating, do not move the unit or turn off the power supply.
